ALPHONSE MUCHA (1860-1939) [GIRL SHIELDING HER EYES.] Pencil drawing. 1933.
9x7 3/4 inches, 23x19 3/4 cm.
Condition A-: small pin holes in lower left corner; slight foxing in image; blind stamp in lower left corner; hand-signed, dated and inscribed by the artist in pencil. Paper. Matted and framed.
By 1932, Mucha and his family had moved to Nice. Although concrete historical details are nonexistent, it would seem that Mucha presented this drawing (and the previous lot) to children (perhaps brother and sister) with whom he was acquainted in Kysperk from his previous visits. "To Dasinka in memory of her 12th birthday Kysperk 27/VIII 1933 [August 27th]."
